San Diego Safari Park

We recently made a very fun day trip to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. We had a total blast. I didn’t take too many photos but I’d like to share what I have with you:

We started the afternoon at the beer hut. The Evey was asleep in the TULA backpack, so the obvious choice was to get a brew. The sizes were small and large. We did not know that large was 32 oz. These were some big ass beers.

Of course shortly after we retrieved our beers, just about the second I shot the above photo Evey woke up. So instead of sitting down to enjoy those beers we started walking. We quickly came upon the Bald Eagles. They were very cool, there was a pair of them, and one was very interested in making a racket.

We ventured through the park and saw a lot of really neat places. Including a waterfall and a cool tiger statue:

Soon our little Evey got antsy and had to get out of the backpack, we spent the rest of the trip trying to keep up with her.

She pet some bronze elephants, they were much more interesting than the real ones.

It didn’t take long for the sun to come out from the clouds, and it got hot, someone got a little bossy and took a hold of the map.

I shot a little video footage watch closely for the wild toddler at the end

Afterwards we went and had some very sup-par sushi at a place called Hana in Vista. Very mediocre.

All in all the day was very fun, But in my expert opinion the actual Zoo is more fun, but also much more crowded.

Evelyn Update 2.5 years!

We are long overdue for a Tiny Tamale update. I want to say not much has changed, but looking at pictures from the last few months I know that is not true. I tried to select a few of my favorite photos of her from the last few months. I know I have many readers, family and friends, who are Evey fans, so I will try to make these more frequent. Recently there have been less pictures because Evey is potty training and she is frequently not wearing pants. So no pictures. But I will work on more frequent Evey updates filled with cute photos.

I have been doing my best to teach her healthy eating habits, she loves fruit, particularly oranges and berries (all berries.)

Evey is a very happy little girl, and she is very good at finding silly ways to make people laugh, I think she gets that from her dad.

She still falls asleep in “the big bed” most nights, but she gets moved into her bed and usually stays there until she wakes me up asking for bananas at dawn.

We got her a water table this weekend, just in time for her half birthday. And it’s the best thing ever.

A tale of too many cameras, and the one I broke.

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
I love my cameras.

My main photo camera is my Nikon D3000. I’ve had it for about 5 years now and it’s my best. I have two additional lenses besides the standard 55mm one. I use it frequently. It however does not have video capabilities.

I also have my iPhone, which I use the most often because it’s always with me. I don’t use it for video, except baby videos because there is usually no space on it.

Go Pro

I have My GoPro, which is by far the best video camera, but not good for vlogs, because no one looks pretty 2 feet in front of a fish eye lens.

I have two webcams I can use for vlogging, but the built in one on the mac is grainy, The external one on the PC is not as grainy but not as clear as I’d like.

I have my point and shoot, which I always lose. When I can find it the battery is dead and when I find the charger I’ve normally lost the camera again. But I did find both today and it’s charging. It seems to be having an lens error, but it works, just sounds rough when I turn it off and on.

Finally my flip camera. This was a great camera. It worked really well, shot HD, took AA batteries, so no charger to lose. It was a sweet little purse camera, and great for vlogging because it fit right on my tiny desktop tripod. Well I was using it while Geocaching Sunday and I dropped it. And it stopped working. So I took it apart. Couldn’t find what was wrong, put it back together, and it still doesn’t work. Found a “fix” for it, tried it, still doesn’t work. took it apart again, found I actually broke part of it when I took it apart. Ugh.
I found a part to fix what I broke, but I don’t know if I want to spend $20 to fix something that may not fix the camera, It could still not work. So I am a little pissed. And they don’t make Flip cameras anymore.

I may order the part I fixed, and if that doesn’t work find a repair shop.

I hope I get it working again someday, because it’s a great little camera.

Wanderlust Wednesday

I love the idea of a weekly look into my adventure desires. I will try my hardest to not have them all be related to Japan.
But starting out I can’t help but share my strong desire to return to Okinawa, Japan.
We really enjoyed our time there and are anxiously awaiting an opportunity to return.

Here are some of my favorite shots from Okinawa.
It’s really hard to sum up 2.5 years in just a few pictures, but in effort to not make this post miles long here goes:
